“Cool as Ice” is the description given by the judges of the New Zealand Master Builder Awards when it gave ‘gold’ status to Mackenzie Crib. The judges said, “This is a high-performance house, built to handle the extremes, where every detail has been well considered and crafted.”
Mackenzie Crib is the perfect retreat for couple(s) that want to enjoy a stunning yet cozy alpine getaway. There are two bedrooms, both with king beds and mountain views. The layout of the home is flexible, with the option of having an additional guest bunk room available upon request.
Mackenzie Crib is situated on a quiet road, across from the historic Mt John homestead where Al Pacas and merino sheep graze amongst the tussocks. Fifty meters away you’ll find the Cairns golf course, and the village center is just a short 5 min walk away. With uninterrupted mountain views, you will not want to leave.
Upon entering Mackenzie Crib you will understand why it won the ‘gold’ award. The home features white-washed ply walls, recycled rimu timber floorboards and exposed rafters. Take time out to relax in front of the spectacular fireplace on plush leather couches or on the double window seat.
The chic kitchen and dining area has everything you need, from the latest appliances, to all your cooking & eating requirements. The kitchen opens out through sliding glass doors onto a sunny north-facing deck, which has rustic wooden furniture, BBQ, and wood beams that frame the spectacular lake and mountain vista.
There are two bathrooms, both with showers and a separate toilet. Your stay is further enhanced by an impressive two-person, free standing bath.
The radiator heating system in the bedroom wing is temperate controlled, which ensures your stay is toasty and warm on those snowy winter nights.
A separate laundry with a washing machine, dryer, sink and ski boot holder adds to the convenience of your stay.
Please note there is no TV, but there is unlimited VDSL WIFI which allows on demand viewing.

Your credit card details are required to secure your booking. We require full payment on check in via credit card/eftpos or cash.
All credit card transactions incur a 2.5% surcharge.

Book Tekapo Holiday Homes reserves the right to cancel a reservation/re-book a home should credit card details not be given.
Any cancellations or alterations made within 7 days of your booking will incur a fee in full for the first night’s stay. All no-shows will be charged the full amount as booked. No refund is given if you decide to leave a day early or a guest has dropped out at the last minute.
All bookings are subject to cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances including the sale of the property, long-term letting or other events outside Book Tekapo Holiday Homes control. If your booking is cancelled we will endeavor to book you into an equivalent home, however Book Tekapo Holiday Homes takes no responsibility if this is not possible. Any existing deposit may be either put towards a new booking or refunded in full.
Check In Policy
Check in is from 3pm-8pm. The hour of closure may vary during the winter due to the weather. We will contact you the day before for an arrival time. Please visit us a 4 SIMPSON LANE TO CHECK IN.
To collect your keys to your accommodation and to make payment, please come to Book Tekapo Holiday Homes office at 4 Simpson Lane, Lake Tekapo.
Please let us know your expected arrival time in advance.
If you have made a booking within 12 hours of arrival, please contact us on either 027 483 3593 or 027 3090196 to confirm we are expecting you.
