Private Room Lyndon Lodge — Double-bed Loft Room Sleeps 2 - 4 (1 night min)

Broken River features a small private room in Lyndon Lodge, which features a double bed and one double loft, and a maximum occupancy of 4.

The loft, accessible by a 3-4 metre ladder, is not recimmended for young children under the age of 12 or anyone else who is not comfortable ladder climbing (or needs to get up in the night). If your family or group contains members for whom this would be unsuitable we suggest you stay in one of our larger bunkrooms, by selecting a standard bunk rather than this room.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ: Our Double Room is a small room in Lyndon Lodge containing a double bed on the main level and a second double bed situated in a high loft space which is accessed by a 3-4 metre ladder attached to the wall. Guests will be placed as priority into Lyndon Lodge, with Broken River Lodge used as overflow for busy periods and for group bookings.

Dinner, bed and breakfast.

Bunk bed in shared bunkroom. Bunks are in two layers in rooms with between 5 and 9 bunks. Pillow is provided. You can choose to bring your own sleeping bag and pillowcase or, for an additional charge of $20 per change, ask the club to provide bed linen for you when you book the accommodation.

Booking includes dinner, bed and breakfast. Lunches available for purchase at our Day Lodge. Linen/sleeping bags required.

Catered Bunk — Youth (Age 11 - 18) (1 night min)

Single bunk bed in a heated bunkroom.

Youths under 18 years old at the beginning of the calendar year are charged at the applicable Youth rate.

Broken River offers real mountain-style accommodation in our two cosy, centrally-heated catered lodges nestled in beech forest at tree line just 10 minutes walk from the first ski tow. Great company, food and atmosphere are topped off with incredible views of the surrounding mountains and Castle Hill valley. We also have a newly renovated sauna to soothe those tired muscles.

Lyndon Lodge shared bunk-style accommodation and bathroom facilities, a modern kitchen, communal living area and drying rooms.

Property Facilities

Meals are cooked for you and include a three course dinner and breakfast. If you have any dietary requirements, be sure to let us know as soon as you can. Bring your own lunch or purchase something from Palmer Lodge on the field.

You will be rostered on one light duty each day, ranging from washing a few dishes to vacuuming. Duties will not cut into your skiing time, and are a great way to get to know your fellow guests.

Remember to bring your sleeping bag and towel, or if you'd prefer, linen can be hired at an additional cost.

General Room Facilities

Lyndon Lodge has a range of bunk rooms in various sizes (ranging from our private room to a 9 person bunkroom).

Bathroom facilities, which include private showers and laundry facilities, are separate and shared between rooms.

Overflow accommodation is in Broken River Lodge which has 24 bunkbeds split between 2 rooms
Remember to bring your own towel and personal toiletries.

Car Parking

Hanomag carpark is located at the base of the Tyndall Tramway which will take you and your gear directly to the Accommodation & Ticket Office.

Directions to Property

To reach the Broken River Ski Area, you drive for 1.5 hours west of Christchurch on State Highway 73. The Access road to the ski area is clearly sign posted on your left, approximately 8km past Castle Hill Village, and will take you the 6km up to Hanomag Carpark.

Snow chains may be required and should always be carried. Please drive to the conditions, and check our website for transport options.

Additional Information

Pies, chips, pizza and a range of snack food and beverages (including our very own BR Lager!) can be purchased from our Day Lodge. We accept Cash, EFTPOS, Visa and Mastercard.

You are also welcome to bring your lunch supplies and use the kitchen facilities and BBQ located at Palmer Lodge. Please note however, there are no rubbish facilities or fridges available for guest use on the field.

Payment Policy

Most bookings are instantly confirmed and charged to your credit card (Visa or Mastercard)
When the accommodation is near to full, it will move to On Request and will be processed manually, your credit card will be held until the booking is confirmed.
No bookings can be confirmed until paid in full.

Cancellation Policy

Accommodation Cancellation and Refund Policy

1. When an accommodation or ski package is cancelled by Broken River Ski Club, a full refund will be provided or you can transfer your full credit which can be used until the end of the next ski season

2. When an accommodation or ski package is cancelled by guests, admin and cancellation fees will be applied as per below:

2a. An administration fee of $50 (or the amount of the applicable refund if less than $50) will be deducted from the amount of any refund payable.

2b. Fees upon cancellation of a booking will apply to a refund as follows:
- Cancellation 28 days or more prior to the booking: 90% refund less admin fee.
- Cancellation between 27 days and 11 days prior to the booking: 50% refund less admin fee.
- Cancellation within 10 days of commencement date (or during the booking): no refund will be given.

3. Any refund payable will be paid by the Club Treasurer and may not be paid by the ski area or by ski area staff.

4. If BRSC closes the field for the full period or part of your package:

- If the road and accommodation are open you are welcome to stay (and will be provided complimentary lift passes for the days the field was closed to use within the next two years if you have an accommodation/ski package) OR:

- You will be offered credit valid until the end of the next ski season, OR:

- You can request a full or partial refund (if closure occurs part-way through your booking) less the administration fee.

These conditions apply to all member and non-member bookings.

The Broken River Ski Club Committee reserves the right to reduce or waive cancellation fees in exceptional circumstances in its discretion.

Child Policy

Please note that all children and youth under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during their stay on the hill.

Children and infants under the age of 5 are unable to stay in our Lodges without prior approval/arrangement. Please email bookings@brokenriver.co.nz for more information.

Children and youths under 18 years old at the beginning of the calendar year are charged at the applicable youth rate.

Check In Policy

Guests are required to check-out on the day of their departure at 9:00am.

Check-in time is from 3:30pm to 5:00pm daily.

If you plan to ski during the day of your arrival or departure, we are able to store your gear in one of our Lodges.
