Twin Forestry Hut — NightlyThe Forestry Huts are the old single gentlemen huts from the forestry days.
The Twin Forestry Huts have two single beds. (Please be aware that due to the size & build of the huts, unfortunately the beds are unable to be joined together.) All Huts are powered and include a fan heater.

Tent — NightlyA large area of the camp is available for camping. The tenting area has 23 large sites. Lots of space to spread out and enjoy the surroundings. Numerous big trees provide shelter from the sun. All our sites are unpowered - there are NO powered sites available.
The Campground offers peaceful,large and shady sites suitable for families, groups and individuals.
The campsite is ideal for well supervised groups and school camps and can be combined with the use of one of our kitchen/lounge areas if required. Noisy and unruly groups will be asked to leave. Quiet time is 10pm- 7.30am
As with the rest of the Forest Camp, the campground is completely smoke-free. There is a designated smoking area by the front entrance. |

Hanmer Springs Forest Camp was established in the early 1950’s as a New Zealand Forest Service single men’s camp. It was originally used as the base for the NZ Forest Service timber treatment plant.
In 1977 when the NZ Forest Service ceased operation on the site, a Trust was formed from local residents and the Rotary Club of Papanui. For a peppercorn rental they agreed to manage the site and develop the buildings for recreational, educational and environmental purposes.
The members of the newly formed Hanmer Springs Forest Camp Trust set about fund raising to make the buildings habitable as a school camp. In 1979 St. Marks School was the first user of the camp.
The facilities 30 years ago were extremely basic. However the aspiration of that far-sighted committee has proved to be a hugely successful venture. Initially the committee did all the work, including fundraising, building, sewing, cleaning, coercing prospective clients, promoting, taking the bookings and instructing the children in forestry, but as time went on, the need for paid staff to be onsite became a priority.
As more groups and schools came to use the camp's facilities, the Trust decided to build a multiple cabin lodge to upgrade the accommodation. The Ensor Lodge (built in 2002) consists of a variety of family-style cabins and bunk rooms. Most of the Ensor Lodge cabins can be easily accessed by wheelchair and two disability toilet/shower rooms were added to the Ensor Lodge with that in mind.
The Abilities Lodge (built in 1986, and refurbished in 2006) is another of the Hanmer Springs Forest Camp's unique accommodation options and was purposely built for people with disabilities. Two Self-Contained Units have since been added to the lodge, making the entire accommodation facility unique for the South Island.
Hanmer Springs Forest Camp is still run by a Board of Trustees that meet every 2 months to oversee the workings of the camp and manage new projects. A mixture of Hanmer residents and Christchurch folk, the committee share a common vision for the camp.

Payment Policy
Payment is to be made at the time of booking,
Credit Cards used for payment will be kept on file and may be charged in the event of any outstanding charges or fees from a breach of the terms and conditions below.
Please note there will be a 3% surcharge added to all credit card payments.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations -
Cancellations with at least 72 hours' notice before your check-in time (2pm) receive a full refund minus a $15 administration fee.
Cancellations or no-shows with less than 72 hours' notice forfeit the full booking amount.
Amendments -
Amendments made within the 72-hour window — changing dates, reducing guest numbers, or shortening your stay — fall under the same cancellation policy.
Disruptions such as cancelled flights, road closures or weather events are treated the same as any other cancellation and fall under this policy. We strongly recommend all guests take out travel insurance, as we can not offer refunds for events outside our control.
Please note a 3% card surcharge applies to any amount charged.
Check In Policy
Check in time from 2pm.
All day visitors must leave the park by 10pm
Check out time from all facilities including kitchens is no later than 10am.
Please note, our minimum age for stay without a parent or guardian is 21. If you arrive and are asked for ID please don't be offended. If you are under the age of 21, you will be denied access.
Office Hours are between 8:30am-5pm Sun-Thurs, 8:30am-6pm Fri-Sat.
Our camp is Smoke-free and Vape-free, you can only smoke in the designated smoking area.
There is a fee of $200 for any smoking or vaping in any other area of the camp other than the designated area.
We are a Family Orientated / Kids School Camp, therefore please respect this and keep noise to a minimum between 10pm and 8am.
No loud or unruly behavior, drunkenness, parties etc will be tolerated. You may be asked to leave the camp.
Any loss or damage of a room key will incur a $30 charge.
Any missing Pillows or Pillow Covers will incur a charge equal to the cost of replacement
Any damage, vandalism or theft towards the Forest Camp, will result in your card on file being charged for replacement/repair or cleaning.
Dog Policy -
Dogs are welcome on the campsites only — in tents or campers. To keep the camp comfortable for everyone:
Dogs are not permitted in any accommodation or communal areas (kitchens, toilets, etc.)
Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times
Please pick up after your dog — a dog bin and poop bags are provided on site
Excessive barking or aggressive behavior may result in being asked to leave
Evidence of dogs in prohibited areas may incur a $200 cleaning fee and you may be asked to leave
Service dogs are welcome in all areas — certification will need to be provided before arrival or at check-in, not after departure
The use of ALL motorbikes / motorized Go carts for recreational use is strictly prohibited within the Campground, unless arranged with Management prior.
No gang patches or gang affiliation is to be shown or worn while on site.
All emergencies are to reported to staff as soon as reasonably possible. Use the emergency phone intercom at reception or locate our after hours number on the map.
