Winter 2024 Bookings
Winter rates for 2024 apply from 1st July to 27th October. Outside these dates, summer rates apply. Winter rates include food, summer rates do not.
- School Holidays will be allocated in blocks - see School Holidays below.
- If a weekday date is showing as on-request/unavailable, please contact us. These dates may be available, depending on the size of your group and if one of you is a trained lodge operator.
Bunk Release
Winter bookings for members open on May 1st.
Non-Member Bookings open June 1st. Due to low member demand, bookings are open for non-members from May 5th.
12 bunks will be held back for every weekend, and released as follows (dates approx):
- 8th June - Release July bunks
- 8th July - Release August bunks
- 8th August - Release all reserved September and October bunks.
Additionally, bunks will be reserved for club trips & snowcraft.
If a date shows as on-request/unavailable, please contact us as there may be limited availability. We close online bookings for most dates 5-7 days out so we can do food orders but we may be able to accommodate your group, so please contact us!

Important information on accessing the lodge
After making a booking, You should receive a separate email a week before your stay containing information on accessing the lodge. If you do not receive this, please email us at lodgebookings@wtmc.org.nz
Club Ski Week
The club ski week in 2024 is September 8 - 13. Bookings for these dates will open on 1 August.
School Holidays
The busiest times of school holidays are split into blocks to keep things manageable for the lodge team and lodge leaders. You need to book the whole block, and we don’t offer partial refunds. You can book multiple blocks.
School Holidays are blocked out so that everyone in a group arrives and leaves on the same day. The blocks are as follows:

Located on the active slopes of Mt. Ruapehu, our Club is proud to own a luxurious lodge nestled in the tiny ski community of Iwikau Village.
Within skiing distance of the nearby Whakapapa ski field, the lodge has the capacity to comfortably sleep 32 people. It serves as a year-round base for people who want to enjoy the surrounding Tongariro National Park.
General Room Facilities
These are general facilities shared across all rooms.
Car Parking
Park somewhere on the right hand side of the road as you are driving up. This is opposite and approx half way up the top day park (2)
You should not park in areas marked day parks.
The road will only be closed if snow or ice prevents access.
There is a series of steps up to Cerac lodge which is at the top of the bank.(at the
top of black arrow).
Go past this and the nearest lodge on the flat above is ours.(top of red arrow)
Steps may not be visible if there is a large amount of snow, but foot traffic follows
this route.

The WTMC Whakapapa lodge is located in Iwikau Village at the Top of the Bruce (SH 48).

WINTER RATES include food / SUMMER RATES exclude food.
All values GST Inclusive.
All occupants must book a bunk, including babies.
For a 3 day weekend, the price is 1 weekend rate plus 1 day rate.
A week is 5 consecutive nights.
A weekend is Friday night to Sunday afternoon.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE:
• A Torch
• Pillowslip
• A light sleeping bag or light duvet and sheet (extra blankets are available).
• Light clothing to wear inside the lodge
• Toilet gear and towel
• For outside wear a mix of multiple thin insulating layers with a wind and
waterproof outer layer
• A pair of boots (not ski boots) suitable for walking in snow
• Hat, gloves, sunglasses, sun screen
• Tramping and/or ski gear.
• BYO refreshments (all food is provided)
• CDs, tapes
It is best to use a pack for your gear as the lodge is approx 100m from the road.
Payment Policy
Full payment is required to secure your booking.
For non-member bookings, specific non-member opening dates must be adhered to avoid cancellation.
Booking priority - Bookings are first come, first served, with bookings generally opening earlier for members than non-members. Please refer to the schedule above to check the booking dates for your required weeks or weekends.
Booking confirmation - Your booking is not confirmed until payment is received. NO PAYMENT = NO BOOKING.
Winter weekends
a. Run from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon, including all meals on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
b. Bookings for Members open 1 May. Weekend bookings for non members open 1 Month before the trips run except for open weekends when bookings open 1 June. Bookings must be made by 9pm on the Wednesday prior to the weekend you want to book.
Winter weeks
a. Run from Sunday evening to Friday afternoon, during the winter ski season.
b. Members bookings may be made from 1 May.
c. From 1 June, non-members have equal booking rights for ski weeks.
d. Week bookings for non- members open 1 June except for some early winter season bookings which open one month before the trip runs.
Vouching for non- members - when a member books non-members into the lodge they are accepting responsibility for their behaviour and character. Bookings from non-members MAY be refused if they do not have Club members prepared to vouch for them. Non-members booking online will be required to enter a referring members name into the booking system.
Transport - It is your responsibility to get yourself to and from the Lodge. If you need transport, then mention this to the Lodge Booking Officer; there may be car-pooling options available.
Lodge Capacity - Lodge capacity is 32 persons including babies sleeping in cots. Due to safety regulations, overbooking the lodge on any night is not permitted.
