Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge is situated in Egmont National Park on Mt. Taranaki. We are fully licensed and provide meals to our lodge guests. All of our 10 Swiss style guest rooms have their own ensuite with either shower or bath. We are the only catered accommodation provider at Dawson Falls Road end and our Cafe offers light snacks, coffee, tea, wine and beer. Our lodge guest are encouraged to relax and socialise in our two guest lounges. In cold days the two fire places further enhance the mountain experience.
Property Facilities
We have two guest lounges for you to relax or socialise in. In cold days, the wood fires will keep you warm and cosy.
We are fully licensed (No BYO) and fully catered, therefore no self catering. Evening meals need to be booked in advance and it is essential that you let us know if there are any dietary considerations.

Location / Distances
We are at the Dawson Falls Road End. Several short walks and longer tramps start right in front of the lodge. Driving time to the beach is 45min, to Stratford 25min, to Hawera 50min and to New Plymouth 60min.

Directions to Property
From Stratford:
Follow signs to Dawson Falls/Egmont National Park. Drive on Celia Street which turns into Opunake Road for 14km - then turn right onto Manaia Road. Drive 8km, first country road, then through a 'tunnel' of bush in the National Park to the road's end.
From Wanganui:
Take SH3 to Hawera, then 45 (Surf Highway) to Manaia. In Manaia turn right at roundabout to Egmont National Park/Dawson Falls. Keep driving on Manaia Road, past Kapuni and Kaponga until coming to a T-intersection. Turn right and immediately (about 40m) left again to continue on Manaia Road. Drive 8km, first country road, then through a 'tunnel' of bush in the National Park to the road's end.
Additional Information
About 80% of the electricity used at our lodge is produced by one of the world's oldest DC (Direct Current) Hydro-Generators. We do have AC (Alternating Current) installed in the guest rooms, which you can use for recharging any electric devices, e.g. laptops, mobile phones, etc.

Cancellation Policy
Outside of school and public holidays cancellation of up to 8 days before booked arrival is free of charge. Cancellations less than 8 days before incur a charge of the first night's rate. No Shows will be fully charged for the entire booked stay.
Public Holidays and School Holidays:
Cancellation of up to 60 days before booked arrival is free of charge. Cancellations between 60 and 31 days before booked arrival incur a charge of the first night's rate. Cancellations less than 31 days and No Shows will be fully charged for the entire booked stay.
(These terms do not apply to Group bookings, see Group booking terms on individual booking contracts)
Child Policy
All children under 2 years stay free of charge when using existing beds.

Electricity Information:
We make you aware that we have Direct Current (DC) electricity as well as Alternating Current (AC power from the grid) on these premises. There are extra precautions required. Only use clearly marked AC power outlets for your devices, e.g. Laptop- or Phone chargers. Under no circumstances plug any of your devices into a DC power plug. If unsure ask the lodge manager first. Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge will not take responsibility for any damaged guest devices due to using the incorrect electricity outlets.
DC heater temperatures can vary, so do not touch them nor place any objects in close proximity. It is your responsibility to supervise your children to ensure they do not come in contact with any hazards.
