A journey through the Waitaki Valley would not be complete without stopping or staying at the Iconic Duntroon Hotel. We look forward to welcoming you into our newly rebuilt Bar, Cafe, Restaurant and Accommodation, located in the heart of Duntroon. We can offer you drinks from our range of local beers and wines, as well as barista coffee and food from our extensive menu and our cabinet, prepared by our Chef.
Property Facilities
All accommodation is upstairs in our newly renovated 140 year old Hotel. All rooms contain a bathroom with a toilet and a shower. Bedding is included. The rooms do not have tea and coffee making facilities, however we have a Bar & Cafe downstairs which provides beverages (not included in room rate). There is a washing machine and a dryer available for guests to use. The dryer is coin operated. We have a locked room for the storage of bikes and ebikes, with charging facilities. There is plenty of off-street parking. Large vehicles and trailer can also be accommodated. Photos of the property are on our website.
Location / Distances
Duntroon is located in the beautiful Waitaki Valley, beside the Maerewhenua River, very near to the south banks of the Waitaki River. It is 30 minutes inland from Oamaru. If you are travelling the famous Dansey’s Pass route, Duntroon is located 500 metres west of where the road to Dansey’s Pass meets State Highway 83. Duntroon is a short detour off your route if you are travelling north or south, either up the middle of the island or the east coast. Duntroon is also located on the Alps to Ocean Cycle Trail.

Payment Policy
Payment in full in the evening before check out, if not prior. I acknowledge that I am personally liable for payment for any damage to my room or related facilities (accidental or malicious) by myself or my guests and that any remaining balances can be finalised on my credit card or charged directly.
Check-In: 2.30pm - 9pm, unless by prior arrangement.
Check-Out: 10am
Children: Children must be included in all bookings. Our Hotel does not have facilities for very young children.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations can be made up until 2 days (48 hours) prior to arrival without charge. However, any cancellations within 48 hours of arrival will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to 100% of the intended stay if we are unable to resell your room(s). Any no-show reservations will be charged 100% of the cost of the intended stay.
Smoking: Duntroon Hotel is strictly non-smoking and non-vaping. A charge of a minimum of $500 will apply if smoking or vaping is detected.
Pets: Pets cannot be accommodated within the building.
Check In Policy
Guest must check in at the Bar and one of our friendly staff will assist you with booking.
Check In is from 2.30pm and Check Out at 10am.
