Just 10 minutes from Cromwell, Penny’s Drop Inn sits on a peaceful three-hectare property surrounded by mountain views, orchards, and the iconic vineyards of Central Otago. You will find there are animals on the property including two friendly dogs and a couple of goats.

Areas of the property are being developed so that we can expand our offerings to guests. Therefore you will likely see machinery such as tractors and mowers. The property is supported by solar panels, has a irrigation water race running through the property and an onsite water treatment system.

Outside, guests can unwind on the lush lawn, relax at the picnic table, connect over a drink with other guests and enjoy the open green space and fresh country air.

As a working property, these normal rural features, although well controlled and clearly marked, do pose a safety risk, particularly to young children unsupervised. Therefore, by confirming your booking, you agree to, take care of your own safety, supervise any children, follow any signage and avoid restricted or working areas.

Property Facilities

Accommodation options include an 8-bed male dorm, a 6-bed female dorm, and eight private double rooms - all warm, tidy, and well-built.
The property features spacious shared facilities, including clean bathrooms, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, a generous dining area, a cosy lounge, and a coin-operated laundry. All rooms are well insulated and sound proof, to ensure you have a comfortable stay while at Pennys Drop Inn. Our rooms are secured with electronic locks for that extra peace of mind. Free wifi and storage is also available to all of our guests.

Cromwell and Bannockburn’s renowned vineyards and cellar doors are just minutes away, making it the perfect place to explore, taste, and unwind.

Payment Policy

We require full payment at the time of booking. Your credit card will be charged for the nights you reserve.

This payment will be processed as soon as you confirm your acceptance of our rooms and prices, in line with our policies / terms and conditions.

For provisional bookings (where availability isn’t confirmed immediately), your credit card will be charged once your booking request is received and your room is confirmed.

A credit card payment will incur a 2.5% non-refundable transaction fee.

By confirming your booking, you agree to:
• Take care of your own safety
• Supervise any children or pets
• Follow any signage
• Avoid restricted areas

Cancellation Policy

Amendments, Non-Arrival, Cancellations, and Refunds

Amendments
First amendment is free
Changing a booking incurs a NZ $5.00 amendment fee per transaction there after.
Changes to your arrival date cannot be made on the day of arrival. Any attempt to do so will be treated as a same-day cancellation, and no refund will be given.

Non-Arrival
If you do not notify Penny’s Drop Inn that you are cancelling, no refund will be given for the first night or any additional nights booked.
Penny’s Drop Inn is not responsible for booking errors made when selecting dates; the non-arrival rules above will still apply.

Cancellations
Cancellations requested inside the 48 hours prior to check in time (2pm) are non refundable.
Cancellations requested outside of the 48 hours prior to check in time (2pm) are fully refundable minus the non refundable credit card fee and $10 cancellation fee.
Bookings made on the day of arrival are non-refundable for the first night; standard cancellation rules apply for subsequent nights.

Child Policy

We allow no age limit if persons under the age of 18 are accompanied by an adult or caregiver.

Bookings inclusive of children under the age of 5 will be approved providing sleeping arrangements are available and each child would cost $25 per night.

The property has normal rural features such as animals, vehicles, electric fences, conduits, a stream, and uneven ground. Therefore it is the responsibility of the parent and/or care-giver(s) to supervise any children in their care.

Check In Policy

Room occupancy:
Double and twin rooms sleep two people, but can be booked for one person. In this case, the full room rate still applies.
Pricing:
All prices are in New Zealand dollars and may change without notice. Guests must pay the rate in effect at the time of booking.
Booking confirmation:
We will send a confirmation and any related communications to the email address provided at booking.
Children:
The minimum recommended age for children is five years. Younger children may be accepted if sleeping arrangements are available.
Right of refusal:
Penny’s Drop Inn staff reserve the right to refuse accommodation at any time.
Changes to plans:
If your plans change, please contact your booking provider or Penny’s Drop Inn directly, as soon as possible.
Room allocation:
While we aim to keep guests in the same room throughout their stay, room changes may be necessary due to availability. You will be placed in a room of similar or higher standard.
Special events:
Be mindful that you may be sharing the space with large groups who book the facility for events such as reunions and sports trips.

Privacy Policy

Penny’s Drop Inn and staff are not responsible for personal accidents, injuries, or loss/damage to personal belongings. We recommend all guests have travel insurance.

Please be respectful of other guests and any unacceptable behaviour will be met with a warning. Continued disrespectful behaviour may result in a fine.
