The Cottage features 2 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a lounge, shower room and a separate toilet. The Cottage is set in large grounds next to our orchard. There is also parking for 3 cars and a boat.

The kitchen includes a complete range of self catering equipment including a glass-top oven/cooker, a microwave, a rice cooker, kettle, toaster and fridge/freezer. You can also use the outside gas BBQ.

The lounge area has a wood burner fireplace, air conditioning and heat pump unit, two leather sofas, and offers a 42-inch flat-screen TV with satellite channel system, a Blu-Ray/DVD/CD player, plus a cupboard full of games.

The master bedroom has a double bed and a single bed.
The second bedroom has a double bed, with a single bunk bed above.

How about staying in our 7 metre wide Tipi, with poles reaches 9+ metres to the sky? It's a single space with a double bed, 2 separate single beds + trundler single bed, heating, lights and electricity, chairs and a table, a blanket box and tea & coffee making facilities.

It is set on a purpose built, raised and insulated wooden floor, and the walls are covered in a waterproof poly-cotton canvas with a thick second inner layer and some wool insulation, ensuring a warm and dry sleep.

Alongside, is a purpose built hexagonal toilet building, offering a private shower, toilet and wash basin (set into a gorgeous macrocarpa bench).

There’s also a fully-equipped barbecue shelter, with a gas barbecue, gas pizza oven, fridge, and all the pots, pans, plates and cutlery that you need to enjoy a home cooked meal whilst using the outdoor tables & seating.

House Truck

We are delighted to be able to offer you the unique opportunity to stay in our beautiful House Truck, also known as a Gypsy Caravan, or Gypsy Wagon

It is built on a 1940’s Bedford K series truck and was hand-crafted in New Zealand, taking seven years to complete. The Truck features beautiful ornate wooden paneling (inside and out). Stained glass windows and solar lighting.

On-board, it sleeps up to 2 in a double bed, and has a compact fully-equipped kitchen with gas cooker/oven, microwave, rice cooker, kettle, toaster, fridge, sink, plus a small seating area with flat-screen TV and DVD/CD player, plus a toilet and separate shower room.

Why not try our HUGE 7 metre Yurt which we imported from Mongolia?

The single room space feels larger on the inside and sleeps up to five people on a double bed, two separate singles + a single trundler, and has heating, lights and electricity, fridge, chairs and a table, a cupboard, a blanket box and tea & coffee making facilities.

The Yurt is set on a purpose built, raised and insulated wooden floor and the walls and ceiling are completely insulated with thick camel hair making it snug and warm in winter and cool and airy in the summer. The decorative central roof ring has an insulated cap, which can be opened if it gets too hot!

Alongside, is a purpose built hexagonal shared toilet building, offering a private shower, toilet and wash basin (set into a gorgeous macrocarpa bench).

There’s also a fully-equipped barbecue shelter (shared with our House Truck guests) with a gas barbecue, gas pizza oven and all the pots, pans, plates and cutlery that you need to enjoy a home cooked meal whilst using the outdoor tables & seating. Solar lighting and a range of outdoor furniture.

WAGON - Inside is beautifully stained wooden paneling. The outer wood is stained cedar and the canvas roof is double skinned and insulated with sheep’s wool. Main features: air-conditioning, automatic heat pump, basic cooking facilities, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, rice cooker, sink, lounge seating area, on-board shower, separate toilet and wash-basin, flat-screen full-HD TV and a Blu-ray/DVD/CD player. All our accommodation are fitted out to a high standard and include a range of modern comforts and conveniences.

Directions to Property

From Kaikoura town centre, drive to highway #1 intersection. Turn left and immediately right into Ludstone Road. Drive 4km. Kowhai Ford Road is a turning on the left. We are the first property on the right, with huge advertising boards outside!
GPS WARNING - if you are approaching from Christchurch or Hanmer Springs, your GPS will bring you the WRONG WAY. Please approach from Kaikoura town centre, Ludstone Road and Red Swamp Road. NOT via Inland Road (you will have to cross a river!)

Additional Information

Our Yurt and its companion buildings are completely wheelchair friendly. The rest of our site, while flat, can be muddy in places, following rain.

Dogs - you can bring you dog with you, but there are a few things to think through... not on the furniture, please clean up any mess, and some of our animals free range roam the site so your dog mustn't be the chase and hassle type. Also, we've a collie dog ourselves, so yours must accept other strange dogs easily! There are five medium sized dog kennels near most of our properties which you are welcome to use.

Payment Policy

10% (deposit) will be charged at time of booking. The balance will be requested at check-in, and can comprise either:
- cash, NZ debit or eftpos card, or
- credit card or foreign debit cards (at any time, at your request) + we add the 3% commission charge they take.
- paypal + we add the 4% they take from us.
You will be asked which you prefer at check-in.

Cancellation Policy

If we cancel for any reason = full refund (extreme or unavoidable 'acts of god' not included). If you cancel: (1) 30+ days before check-in = FULL REFUND, (2) 11-29 days before check-in = you lose your deposit, (3) Within 10 days of check-in, or no-show = 100% charge. We do not charge to change your booking, subject to alternate dates being available, and a fair change policy. If you do cancel within ten days of check-in, we will place the property back onto our booking system in the hope that it re-sells. If it does re-sell, your cancellation charge will reduce to the 10% deposit / admin fee.

Child Policy

No charge for non-walking babies, not using a bed.

Earliest check-in 2pm. Check-in closes at 9pm.
If we hear you arrive, we will come out to greet you. If we do not appear within a couple of minutes, please call: +6433195033. (During the day, we work outside on the farm and with our animals, so there may be a delay responding to you, please bear with us).
Alternatively, please approach the white farm house (at the centre of site), some sound their car horn which we might hear.
After 9pm = too late - please contact us in advance to decide what to do. We do offer a pre-booked late check-in, which costs $30 per half hour to have a member of staff available ($60/half-hr after midnight).
